Southern transport corridor road rehabilitation, Kyrgyz Republic

Location: Kyrgyz Republic

Client: Ministry of Transport and Communications

A road reconstruction project to rehabilitate 107km of road - including a 2480m long bridge. Located in the Osh - Sary-Tash - Irkechtam corridor, amidst severe mountainous terrain and seismic conditions. The works were per FIDIC guidelines and comprised; improvements to geometry, pavement strengthening and drainage, environmental and road safety improvements.

Roughton provided consulting services, including:

  • Design review of the project road
  • Construction supervision in the role of Engineer
  • Procurement of road maintenance equipment
  • Benefit monitoring and evaluation
  • Assisting the client with project management
  • Training the Ministry staff
  • Guiding domestic consultants in the delivery of their duties
  • Assisting the Ministry in monitoring and evaluating project performance and impacts on social and economic development and environmental impact in the project area using ADB's PPMS.
