Client: Bournemouth Borough Council
The project was part of the Building Schools for the future scheme to provide additional capacity in the school. The project provides a new twin storey building providing 15 new classrooms, with overhangs as covered external areas.
The old building was upgraded to a similar standard with a larger kitchen. External playing areas were also fully refurbished.
Roughton provided Structural and Mechanical and Electrical Engineering services including the following:
- Initial appraisal of the re-development works relevant to future development works and the phasing of the works
- Transport and highway design where necessary
- Assessment of the existing building services, assembling record information
- Survey of external services carried out by Southern Electricity
- Development of inception and feasibility report considering heating, cooling, ventilation, controls, cold and hot water, lighting, power, voice and IT comms, lightning protection format and budget
- Performance specification and outline design drawings for Stage C handover to a design and build contractor
- Monitoring role throughout construction contract
