Underground Station structural asset inspections, UK

Client: Tubelines Ltd

Prior to commencement of the Station Modernisation programme (carried out as part of the PPP Contract), Tubelines undertook inspection and assessment of all assets for which no current inspection and assessment existed, to identify any remedial works  which needed to be carried out prior to aesthetic upgrade of all surfaces within the stations (walls, floors, ceilings etc).

The works involved various structural forms including:

  • Platforms
  • Platform canopies
  • Ticket Hall floor slabs
  • Ticket Hall roof structures
  • Escalator machine rooms
  • Ventilation plant supports

Undertaken between 2006 and 2008, the project required the planning and execution of the inspection and assessment of all structural assets on the following stations:

  • Brent Cross
  • Camden Town
  • Dollis Hill
  • Heathrow T4
  • Highgate
  • Leicester Square

Roughton was appointed to provide the following:

  • AIP (Approval in Principle) to detail the proposed assessment methodology
  • Principal Inspection Report and associated CAD drawings prepared in accordance with LU/TLL Standards
  • Assessment calculations prepared in accordance with approved AIP
