railway structure surveying

Roughton has been providing structural survey services to the rail sector in the UK since 1991, when London Underground Ltd awarded us our first structural assessment and inspection commission.

Since that time, we have worked on all the London underground networks and approximately 85% of the network stations.

Overseas, we have utilised and strengthened this capability, particularly on the project to rehabilitate the entire railway network in Nigeria for the Federal Ministry of Transport.

Typical railway structures are:

  • Station buildings
  • Platforms standings, canopies, stairwells
  • Ticket ofices
  • Overbridges
  • Retaining walls - mass concrete, RC, masonry, gabion
  • Signal gantries
  • Culverts
  • Pipe crossings - over and under track
  • Foot bridges
  • Cable bridges
